What led you to choose cashmere as a medium?
Its simultaneously super delicate and versatile at the same time. It’s also the most comforting to touch. Wearing it makes my day a little better.
What’s on your bedside table? In the same vein, what keeps you up at night?
Some books that I haven’t gotten around to finishing yet: a biography of the painter Louis Eilshemius and Ways of Being by James Bridle; an eye mask; 4 pairs of glasses and a humidifier. Restlessness keeps me up at night.
Who (or what, or where) inspires you?/ What medium do you draw the most joy from, apart from your own?
Film is the medium I’m the most inspired by that I have no active participation in. I love watching films and reference them quite often. As a small example, Liv Ullmann’s face from Persona (1966) is printed within a heart shape in the interior of a blue robe we made.
You have one night left in New York. What’s the game plan?
Walk all over the city, maybe stopping to speak with people, or have them join me, along the way.
Morgan Moinian
You’re a wearer of many hats and arguably the backbone of Adrian Cashmere’s operational success. What do you think you’ve done differently that has set you apart from others and contributed to AC’s success?
I think a large driver of AC’s success is the partnership I have with Adrian. To have a successful creative products company, the creative leader needs to respect/ understand business and vise versa. Pairing myself an (aspiring) professional manager with Adrian, a professional creator is key for our brand. I’m proud of myself for having understood that at a young age with no experience, although maybe subconsciously.
Assume travel time is no issue and money is no object. What does your ideal day look like?
My ideal day is walking around any city all day long until my feet hurt!
What artists and designers excite you right now?
Vittorio Marella at Amanita, Aura Lee, Tadao Ando (always), Studio Shamshiri.
What’s important to you?
Family and staying true to yourself.
